can anyone tell me if 15lbs long reach caps are still available??

I couldn't find a 15lb Long reach one either, so I deconstructed a standar 15lb one. Probably not the best thing to do though.

Yeah, I kinda took it to bits to make the Spring longer. But I also put a rubber seal in it.

so going down to a 10lbs cap would do what exactly? let water through at a lower temperature?

As I recall I purchased mine last year and it was long reach, got it from Walldonway TVR for around £12.

I'm shocked it took you this long!

Personally, I'd fit my pressure cap to the swirl pot and the ........blah, blah ,blah......

The worrying part is that somebody will seriously dispute where my caps goes now, wait a little while and check back later

It means that the system runs at a lower pressure

which means it boils easier

and I don't think you meant to do that...

put a 10lbs cap on yesterday, in the correct possition (swirl pot) & drove home, got caught in a city centre delay for 35mins 'cus a stupid motorcyclist got in the way of a car. temperature went up to 90 then the fan cut in as normal & it was business as usual - did this about 20 times. no problem. have been following an old thread from PH 2 years ago, a QH FH49 is now fitted & after a good thrash earlier it still isnt misbehaving yet. will let you know if it does.

all is sweet... just need a speedo sensor know so the ECU recognises that the car is moving!!

happy thrashing

Richard.

I bought a QC FH49 cap last year, but have not fitted it yet, so still running on the old (original?) cap. Dare I say it ..... it is on the swirl pot.

Just waiting for a nice day to drain the system and clean it out again. Even after a couple of flushes last year, the water still looks like well brewed Yorkshire Tea.

Mines a QH cap and I'm sure it says 15lbs on it, I'll have to check and report back later!

And it's still on the swirl tank....
