My hood is in good condition so I only wish to replace the scruffy targa panel coverings.

Autohoods used to sell these for about £60 but they now only advertise a complete hood at nearly £400.

Does anyone know of another supplier of just the targa coverings?

Did you contact Autohoods to find out if they did the targa panels seperately?

Hi Nick,

Yes, I just called them and they are now the CarHood Whorehouse and will only sell a complete hood and not the targa cover kit that Autohoods used to market.

Oh well, I'll East Kent Trim supplies a call and see if they can sell me the raw materials and I'll carefully remove the old ones and use them as templates.

Kentish,
You might also try "Woolies". They seem to have every type of trim/covering/carpet/headlining/rubber seal and assorted fasteners in the universe.
I got some rubber 'carpet-backing' just b4 Christmas and it was delivered within 24 hours. Very helpful on the 'phone - and may have patterns for hoods.
Worth a call IMHO.

Thanks Nick, I have paid them a visit at a show a long time ago and they were pretty good. Good thinking!

I'm going to drop into east kent trim supplies as I'm sure i have seen the mohair cloth for sale there when I bought my new rubbers a little while ago but if he doesn't have any I'll be calling woolies.

As long as the colour is close it'll be fine because I'll recolour the entire hood with the renovo hood reviver (it's a material dye really), then the waterproofer to finish off with.

I may even replace the vinyl inside the targa.

I also need a new locating lug on the front edge, any ideas where I can get these from? I guess I can make one fairly easily...

I'll be interested to hear how you get on. My panels are in desperate need of attention but I only really use it with the hood down. Its annoying to see them in the garage in a state so I must do something with them. I got some new clips from RS but there plastic. Wouldn't you be better off getting some stainless steel ones. These can also be sorced from RS. Give me a shout it you need their details.

I will be getting my two targa panels done locally to me near Swindon. This guy works from home doing many convertibles. Had a mate who had an MGRV8. He wanted some stitching redone (The MGRV8 owner is an absolute perfectionist) He was well pleased with the work. I saw the repairist last autumn and he has looked at the targa panels on the car (an S3) and quoted me for recovering the two panels all in for around £200. His name and number is: Mike Jones of Wroughton, Swindon Wiltshire. 01793 813333. He will do anything with hoods. Good luck.

Hi just popped over from the Chimaera forum as I need a repair to a small section of my mohair covered targa roof. Does this man have a web site or e-mail address as far as you know.

Hi Razorman
I still have my targa panels to be done, However, I spoke to Mike Jones a few weeks ago with the hope of getting it done late March early April. Mention the blue S3 from Calne to be done, he should remember me!! I have recommended him to a few Chim members of the Wilts TVR club last week.
As I said his work is excellent, works from home, I don't know if he is on the net, but give him a call and good luck!
