Taking it sideways ......Whoops!
Discussion
I decided earlier to take the car to work tomorrow but I was rather low on fuel so decided to pop out for some tonight to save a trip to a busy petrol station on the way into work.
Anyway, I had a bit of fun on the way there when i caught sight of a maxxed up Nova GTE and couldn't resist blasting past him, no problem (I'm sure he had his handbrake on). After that I continued briskly to the next roundabout to take a left, which was fine until I steered the other way whilst accelerating slightly and the car started to spin, a bit of opposite lock was required to straighten her up again and then foot down and nothing ....I was spinning the wheels in third
I went for a run after filling up and a blast through a long tunnel a few miles from home but found there were road works and a 40mph limit
So, I turned around and had a blast back down the other side of the carriageway and yeeeeeehaaaaa! boy does she go now, the engine rebuild and fettling and the change in fuel pressure regulator have transformed the car, I had forgotten how much fun the car is and I'm looking forward to taking it easy on the icy roads in the morning

Does the up-rated fuel pressure valve have a massive
effect on the MPG on long runs because I have seen
posted what I thought was quite low numbers
Who's Roy?
I've done that before too, so many names and so many characters! Yes, I'd have to admit that the uprated fuel pressure regulator really does have a negative effect on fuel consumption but the resultant increased performance outweighs this negative aspect. The acceleration is nice and smooth now too making a much more pleasurable drive.

Sorry Kentish
Yes, a lead on question please
Is the increased consumption more noticable
on hooning, or is cruising just as bad.?
No problem
Cruising along is no different but hooning is markedly different!
The PBV works by vacuum so it supplies more fuel on demand.
I'll eventually go for an ECU re-map too I expect.

Thanks for that, which one did you go for?
Made by FSE and mine was a Ford Granada/Scorpio 2.9 Efi (Vert Bolts) 86-92 PBV39430 £69.00
Sorry, no photo to hand for mine.
The other type is for a Granada/Scorpio 2.9 Efi (Horiz Bolts) 86-92 VK-384-18-H £98.00
And looks like this: -

Typical, mine had to be the more expensive option!
My current boost valve is .3 bar, do you know what
bar you upped it to.
Yep as is mine.![]()
Bah! Humbug!! To you Kentish, I still haven't got mine back yet!
I hope you'll be back on the road soon. We'll have to arrange to get together for a
and F908TIM when you're next visiting the wrinklies. Gassing Station | S Series | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
