I suggested it before Christmas and we are apparantly
thinking about a venue, possibly in the centre of the country.
Everybody seemed up for it at the time and it will doubtless happen in some form or another

A meet before the big summer meet is definitely in order.

I heard mention of going for 100 cars this time.
Sounds good
but I also wouldn't mind getting a pass and having a few

What big summer meet ?

There will be a big meet in the Summer, the idea is that every S owner tries to make it to that one big meet. Definitely worth traveling for, but in the interim a smaller meet (in the colder weather, less attractive to those who have to travel) is in order, as the pre/post mini-xmas S meets didnt happen in the end.

Any reason you ask ?
I see you are starting talking about GG.(hope S`s will be able to come)

I am not sure it can be assumed there will be a meet this year ,its not been an annual event up to now.

Only asking because I didn't want to nick your weekend .

The Club are being a bit coy on the date for their Big One this year too, which doesn't help with choosing dates

There will be a meet this year, just hope its as big as this years and I hope Dale and Paul will get involved again??? If anyone has any ideas for a venue then please let me know. It has been said that a place where people can go inside for a bit to eat and a bit of banter would be good, so anyone know a large pub, with a large car park where we could possibly hire a room??? Just a thought but the Mid Essex meet pub fits that bill, any other suggestions?

That's coz we haven't agreed anything yet with anyone...which was why I asked above about the "big summer meet" so that we could try not to have events clashing with each other on the same day.

Mike,

This is just an idea but why don't we arrange for a gathering at a pre-arranged event/show. There are performance and sports shows on during the spring and summer around the country where all we'd have to do is book a club area to all park in and then everything else would be there already such as food and seating and there are usually trade stands to buy bits from too, perhaps we could ask Austec, ACT and Leven etc if they'd be interested in attending as I'm sure the trade stands aren't that expensive and we could also get uncle ted to post up a top link on "general TVR gossip" to promote a presence at such a show to achieve a good turnout.

Just an idea?

Not a bad idea Kevin, its certainly an option, any show in mind??? I would prefer a S meet where we can come and go though, as the highlight for me was the hoon last year!! I would try for 2 hoons this year.

All suggestions are welcome and we will go with what the majority want, its not me who decides???? Lets try to get as many cars there as possible so the more people happy with the venue the better.

Lets have some more suggestions then, what would everyone prefer, lets have your suggestions for your ideal meet and we can try to accommodate as many as possible!!

If you want the Max number of cars, hold it in the South Midlands again, more chances of 100 cars then.

Leave it with me for a week or so and I'll look into what suitable shows are on around the country during the year.

No offence to the chaps that live around Essex way but think the midlands would be a better catchment area. That's not because i currently live in the midlands and i appreciate that the majority of attendees live in the Essex area , but some of the northern guys would find it more achievable.
I'll think of somewhere rather than just batting into the air.

Agreed, a lot of shows IIRC are in the Midlands and access is pretty good to most of these types of organised events.

Folks, here are most of the major organised venues and the dates. Don't forget that the suggestion here isn't an S meet ONLY, it is just a suggestion for us to use one of these organised shows for a good meeting place with plenty to see etc and as far as I'm aware they'll all let you in and out as you please if you have your car parked in an organised area so we can go to the pub when we are bored with looking at cars and spares and watching timed circuit races and concourse events etc.

If you wish, you can usually camp at most of these venues too and that is a great laugh with BBQ in the evening and lots of drinks!

I saw that Rover stunt driver at a similar show (what's his name - Russ Swift possibly), anyway he was handbrake parking a mini in a tiny pace etc and other stunts and his young son also. It was mesmerising!
