Home Hydro-Dipping
Discussion
Hi all
I thought I would post this quick link to another thread (excuse the car it is about!) in case anyone is interested in hydro-dipping instead of re-veneering for example.
I have had this done on my TVR dash, but wimped out of doing it at home. However, since I have had another go on a couple of grills as briefly detailed in the link (near the bottom of the page) in my bath! It is definitely possible, and can potentially save a fortune.
Anyway, just in case it is helpful to someone.

Looks like you've got a good result with that. I guess it's easier on the smaller items and the difficulty ramps up pretty quickly as the item gets bigger?
Don't think you need to apologize for the project vehicle either, I love them. Still see them regularly when I visit Hungary every year and get tempted to make a rash purchase every now and again! Or maybe a Wartburg 311 coupe! One of the prettiest things to come out of East Germany (I know it's not a bar set at a particularly great height!)

The good thing with a car like that is you can try stuff out on it without fear of ruining its value!Don't think you need to apologize for the project vehicle either, I love them. Smaller is definitely easier, but I found the hardest part was finding a technique that worked. I read up on it and watched videos but ended up just going with what worked for me.
I think its a brilliant technology though - even if it is abused a great deal (snake skin wheels and walnut Trabant grills step forward!).
