Any thoughts on the rear camber angle of the trailing arms at the moment on re fitting the chassis up its about 2deg pos looks daft? And it's fitted with extra wide wheels. Thanks in advance. Richard

What ride height have you got at the back?

it needs to settle too

try jacking the car up from one trailing arm (next to the drum or disc) and letting it back down a couple of times and do the same for the other arm.

Then check the ride height at the front and rear - see suspension wikki for guidance on acceptable heights

With a trailing arm set up i'd have thought the camber would not vary enormously with ride height (unlike a swing arm design)?

Anyway, is this any help ?

How are you planning to adjust the camber?

The camber does change throughout the travel of the trailing arm as they are semi trailing.

The only way to adjust camber is if your trailing arm brackets are not yet fixed to your chassis or potentially/maybe machining the face of the trailing arm which the hub fits to?

Lots of fun either way...

Thanks for you're comments and links very us full . semi trailing need to check as just presumed that camber will not change with ride height il just adjust buy fitting a wedged shape shim at the hubs if necessary. Sorry for the late reply it's been a long day Richard

easy enough to see the camber change to ride height if you disconnect the spring/shocker and place a spirit level on the disc while moving the trailing arm up/down and noting the changes at different heights.

You shouldn't need any shims though. To have 2deg positive on the rear you must have the thing sat like a Toureg!

Just had mine MOT'd (it passed). Whilst on the ramp with the wheels dangleing there was very pronounced positive camber at the rear. Wheels look vertical when on the ground and it handles fine. Quirk of the rear geometry. Yours will probably be fine when loaded up and ride height set.

don't forget when setting ride height to have the car weighted for occupant(s) and 1/2 tank fuel.
