Rear towing loop - for trackdays
Discussion
Afternoon.
Been making slow progress on Samy but progress nonetheless.
I've dropped the exhaust and the rear mount is an M10 bolt - well will be in stainless steel when put back together.
I was after a rear towing loop for trackday use and bought a dayglow strap loop one to fit.
What are people's thoughts on mounting it using the exhaust bolt into the fuel tank cradle. The exhaust may sit 5mm lower. Do you think it'll be man enough for the job? Or should I weld on an M12 nut to the cradle for it's own mount?

I think the tank cradles a bit flimsy for towing, I wouldnt jack it up from there.
What about welding a hoop similar to the front on one of the main rails either side below the diff?
I'm thinking along these lines but to make it easy for the marshal I think I'll glue Velcro on the body and strap near the back of the car so the marshal can find the end easy. What about welding a hoop similar to the front on one of the main rails either side below the diff?

or perhaps driving with more gusto would ensure a rear end off first resolution to the issue?

Yeah but.. what if he does a complete 720 Steve?

Stewart, a couple of our guys at GMMCTVRCC are sprinting their S's, if you like I'll get some rear tow loop mounting info from them at next Tuesday's Regional meet if I remember.
Possibly some photos as well.
I would definitely NOT use the tank cradle as a strong point because it just.....isn't!
