Exhaust wadding???

Think it also needs to be able to withstand mechanical vibration, even if it took the heat I expect plain old glass fiber would break up and blow out the back pretty quickly.
Loft insulation degrades to fine glass needles very quickly (not nice), I have tried it before.

I was looking to rebuild my system earlier this year and found a supplier of exhaust wadding (Stainless Steel, I think!!) at the Kit Car show.
If I still have the details at home, I will post them tomorrow.

Yes please, that'd be great.
I've just been looking at a company called Fibretech who make stainless wadding for silencers but there were no prices and quantities.
So, an alternative would be much appreciated.

OK,half joking, but you can buy stainless steel wool scourers from the supermarket. You can buy wire wool of course for restoring furniture, but not SS.
If you need it now why not go down to a breakers and buy a couple of old boxes, split them open and use whats inside.
I think you should use firelighters myself! Then wait and listen!
Not very helpfull am I...
Cheers. Tim
ps...an address for the 5th would be good ???

Hi Tim,
YHM inc directions!
If you can make it for around 9:30, that'd be great!
I got the material for the exhaust, I thought cotton wool would be good
Actually, I ended up buying an enormous roll of A1 grade fire retardant insulation suitable for use in situations of upto 1000 degrees ....according to their website!
I dropped off some at lunchtime and now look like I have fleas, it's sooooooo itchy!
