I`m doing a major overhaul of my S1 and have what looks like an oil cooler under the radiator suprisingly it appears fuel is being circulated and not oil!!! I thought it was odd when I found the inlet pipe coming from the rear of the car,can anyone shed any light on what I would call a strange setup,Cheers Bob
Not aware of this as standard but it is not a bad idea. I assume the cooler is on the return from the engine back to the tank.
seem to remember this has come up before .. trawl the archives maybe? ..
Do you think its ok from the safety point of view?
When you say under the radiator, is it particularly exposed? A petrol leak is safer than an oil leak in many respects, but I wouldn't be happy to see either type of cooler in the direct line of fire of speed bumps or low flying stones.
I tend to agree I think I`ll keep the setup but put a substantial mesh protctive screen in front of it,cheers Bob

I have one of these fitted to my S1, it is a fuel cooler not oil cooler. Apparently TVR thought is was needed to cure some running problems on the early cars.
Mine was not plumbed in when I bought the car and I have left well alone and had 2 1/2 years happy, trouble free motoring.
