Temperature Sensor Location
Discussion
Hi all
As the title really, where does the coolant temp sensor hide (not the otter switch)? Is it the one at the back of the block, so you have to remove the inlet manifold?
I ask as my gauge has started to read absolutist nothing, then eventually jumps into life and is fine until you switch the car off again! I'm suspecting the sensor not the gauge or earth etc as all the other gauges are fine. I'm prepared to be told I have no idea what I'm talking about though!
As always, all help is appreciated.

No, have no idea what you're looking at there
, it's at the front, sort of under the throttle body and above the thermostat housing. Yellow arrow is gauge sender, pink is temp. sender to the ECU,

"Sender" is not a very good description, it is actually a "receiver" , 12 volts comes to it via the gauge and it (working as a temperature sensitive resistor) determines how much goes to earth and therefore position of gauge. If you put the wire attached to the sender to earth gauge should read very hot! phillpot said:
