US registration / 1988 msrp

Chaps - help me out here. I'm an expat living in the US and I've just imported a 1988 S. The US federal authorities were great at the port of import but now i've come to register the car in the state of Michigan, the state authority are being twonks. They've had me jumping through hoops and going back and forth to their DVLA equivalent with the most recent request being (...wait for this....) they need some evidence to prove the 1988 MSRP for the car and then establish currency conversion...i mean, WTF is the point of that? Anyway, can somebody send me a picture of a poster for the car or dealer price guide showing the 1988 prices for a S1, or perhaps a 1988 invoice for a similar car showing the UK price? Something like that....or point me to one on the interweb? I'm sure i can figure out inflation and relative currency exchange but i can't for the life of me find the 1988 guide price.

I'm just next door in SW Ohio with my 1987 S1. Fortunately someone else took on the import hassles before I purchased it.
