V8S...ambitious price?
Discussion
This was V8S was advertised back in March 14.
Nearly bought it but decided not to........it was told that it sold at this price!
As an aside, should we not be talking values up - after all it is in all our best interests financially
V8S are rare beasts and when one comes up in this condition its a golden opportunity for one lucky person.
I hope the Cooper Green one sells for this price as it drives all S models up in value.

As an S3 owner I very much like to talk up prices, because around say £7k for a very good one is too low....but £16k is in a rather different ballpark and I'd want to explore what quality of Griff/Chim or even Tamora you get for that sort of money.
However, perhaps ALL S models are heading upwards as "classics" ,e.g.like the Vixens.....amen to that!!

NO! It will just price ordinary TVR S enthusiasts on limited incomes out of the market and force up the price of spares. If you want an investment buy a Porsche, or gold, you can still polish that I'm "in it" for the fun and camaraderie... not the money
As much as I like my S, even with the extra ooomph of a V8, I wouldn't pay 16k for one!
Spares is arguable? very little on an S needs to be (or can be) sourced from TVR specialists but as donor cars such as the Sierra get further and further out of date some parts, particularly those only made by Ford and not after market company's like QH or First Line, are becoming scarce, but there is always a way around it
Other end of the market..... clicky

If you want an investment buy a Porsche, or gold, you can still polish that On a completely different note, it's good to see another with the hard elbow on the air intake pipe and a 3.9 plenum. I know a few years ago when I posted mine, it brought up some questions as to why they were different to most that say 400 launch as chimps and griffs. It's good to know I'm finally not alone! This is probably another car from very early on in the production run.
Good luck to the new owner, hopefully see them on here soon.
Love S's but that does seem a bit much...especially with S1 wheels
for that much money I would look elsewhere...

I like this if you can get over the stigma of the cars history

I find "S" prices a very odd thing - they seem to be going up, but you do see the odd serviceable but tatty car for under £3k.
I saw (and apologies if the owner is on here) a rather tatty looking 2.8 for sale at a car show recently for £4500 which I thought was very strong money. I don't consider mine to be fantastic cosmetically (although it's pretty good) but it was in a different league from the one I saw.

That car was being prepped at the bodyshop which is currently re-painting my S3c a few weeks back. Kerridges also had it on their stand at the recent Suffolk Show. It is in extremely good condition so should command top dollar. If mine comes out looking as good as that one I'll be a happy bunny.

And this went for a good price too.....

Can't say it would be to my taste though...

It would go well with the Banana

You know when you've been mango'd

PS. The engine bay looks as scruffy as Austin's. I wouldn't call it pristine or excellent.
PPS. The colour would perfectly complement my balaclava though!

So why has the plenum got 3.9 on it, whereas mine (also J reg) has got 400 on it?
Steve
Also interested as mine is the same as the car for sale. I think mine is a very early J plate, was first registered on the 6th August I believe. Steve
Does yours have a curved air intake pipe or does it have a hard bend such as the car for sale?
As for the plenum, I know mine raised a few questions when noticed on here a few years ago. There were thoughts that it may have been a NCK engine such as some of the later wedges that snuck into early V8s'. Next time I'm passing Powers I may pop in and see if they can shed some light on it. All I do know is that my engine is a good one as it showed 242hp on the rollers last summer, with no engine modifications been carried out by myself or in its history file.
Will post if I manage to find anything out.
