Given the MG F and TF were known as cars you sit 'on' rather than 'in' I don't see that the seats are going to be any lower than the standard / factory items. Which are pretty low to begin with.
I have Lotus Elise seats which are slightly lower but a bit faffy to fit in that the bases don't line up too well with the ramps in the floor pan.
If you're prepared to mess about chopping the base then mk1, mk1.5 and mk2 MX-5 seats fit well, look nice, comforatble and (in the case of the 1.5 onwards) have a seat belt clip that stops the seatbelt disappearing behind the seat. They bolt straight in but the steel sub base is higher so really needs to be shortened.
If you use the mk1.5 onwards seats and fit a rose joint to the upper seat belt guide behind the seat then you get a seat belat that works properly in evryday use - ie its pulls out and retracts smoothly. Still works as a safety device too.

I fitted the Lotus Elise seats and they are good - first trip was to Spa = 900 miles and both my passenger and myself were comfortable. I purchased the seats without subframes (£40 the pair!!) Worth the faff of making them fit the Vauxhall seat bases I obtained free of charge - a little cutting and welding along with some black spray paint.
