I seem to remember that Wildfire or somebody had their car waxed and before they did any waxing they removed all the old stuff, is this true, and what products would the experts recomend?

To get all traces of wax and other products off you can't beat Fairy Liquid. Strips paint of all protection and grease.

Yep, wash your car with that every week, stand back and watch it fade

I thought that normal car was removed the wax anyway (without all the chemical horribleness of washing up liquid). But there's not need to remove the wax and start from scratch every time if the paintwork is clean under the wax - just use a car detailing cleaner which lifts off the dirt leaving the wax intact.

You can get car cleaner that do not remove the wax from the finish, such as Meguiars Gold Class Wash. Great stuff.

I use turtlewax high gloss for polishing and then their zipwax carwash and it gives an excellent finish that is simple to leather off leaving a great shine.

Turtle wax also sell a rinse agent that leaves the car really really shiny after washing, called deep shine or something??
