Morning all
My starter is starting to play up (sticking, usually takes 3 attempts to start: click, click, BOOM!)

Is it something I can solve by cleaning it up, or will I need a new one?
(Known issue?)

And If i need a new one, where can I get one?
There isn't one listed in the alternative parts list

First make sure your starter motor terminal connections are nice and clean, tight and free of corrosion. If the small terminal is a spade type, make sure the female spade end is tight onto the spade tag. And make sure your main battery earth is good.
The starter motor is same as fitted to Capri / Granada / Sierra, 2.8/ 2.9 V6 models. Most good motor factors should be able to source one for you if needed, usually on an exchange basis.

...mine used to occasionally stick...can be bushes, etc...but could also be a poor earth...i did sort out once by removing the battery earth from the chassis, cleaning it and re-attaching...worth a try... wink

Every 2.9 TVR I've seen is a two bolt mounting but some 2.8's (in Fords not sure about TVRs) are three bolt.

Is that on the XR4X4 2.8 Mike?

My 2.8 S1 starter motor is 2-bolt fastening.
