I've always loved Mobil 1 - but they've stopped doing the right one. The valvolene just hasn't lasted as well I fear...

Anyone got a good answer?

It's Valvoline VR1 Racing 20w50 for me Steve. Good oil pressure, the right additives, the right viscosity for our old-fashioned lumps.
The Mobil is a bit thin with lots of detergents added.

But each to his own I guess.

Sulking at home Steve, because I left it too late. When I went to book ( a few days before the deadline ), all the Millbrook places were taken & there was a huge reserve list. So I didn't bother.
My fault, but I'm always a bit lastminutedotcom.

I've learned my lesson now, I shall be booking early for the 75th Celebrations.....

Same for me, its a high ZDDP oil so is good for sliding friction surfaces such as tappets. I have found they need a lot less adjustment since changing to VR1.

Another vote for the Valvoline, and it is readily available from Eurocar Parts.

Just wish it could sort the valve clearance issues on mine! However the old engine is tired and at least one cam lobe has gone through the hardening (a regular problem on these engines). I still haven't had the time to build the 'new' engine, but I will be treating that engine to Valvoline from 'new'.

And another vote for this stuff. I wish it was avaialble elsewhere at a competitive price because Eurocarparts are a shambles!

In my cosworth days (pinto block pretty much and forged Pistons) I used Mobil 1 Motorsport 20/50 or castrol RS which was pretty much the same.

The jag engine line 0w40 !

I refilled with this during rebuild.... Reasonable viscosity, reasonable brand, very reasonable price.
(Agree though that ECP are generally a shambles)
