The big wing mirror changeover!
Discussion
soooo after speaking to a few garages who quite frankly had never fitted wing mirrors therefore deciding to quote me stupid prices.. i spoke to my old man & borrowed his expertise for a few hours
removed the tatty old wing mirrors and started to saw through the fibreglass stumps carefully with a coping saw, there was no bolts or anything behind them just wedged in with fibreglass

smoothed off the stump using the grinder with a sanding attachment on, bit of tape around the stump as a precaution (lol not much of a prtotector really)

drilled two holes using the template that came with the wing mirrors, bolts in, took out speaker reached up and got the nut in with abit of playing about, and there you go tvr s1 fitted with chrome mazda mx-5 mk1 wing mirrors, finished job looks like this..

next job the coolant changeover!

Thanks for the compliment. I assume you mean the 8-spokes? Here is the thread on that project

I've still got the oh-so-lovely-but-delicate 8-spokes but am currently running around on powder-coated Estorils because they are a lot easier to look after and less prone to "injury".

Good to see you took the plunge and got on with it. With care it isnt that bad a job is it? Did you find the new mirror base pretty well covered the mark left from grinding?
Mk1 MX5 mirrors look exactly right on the S dont they? Could have been designed for the job, for a car which is all curves they just seem to be 'right'.

That's the ones, I have the same on my S1 but the guys at speedwells (in birmingham) didnt sound positive enough with the diamond cutting so I've left them for now.. May just get a metal polishing kit to tidy them up
Yours looked really good to me? Or is the banding you mentioned close up?
May I ask where you got your TVR wheel centre badges from? I saw a few on eBay but not sure of the sizing..
