If you've not decided on a stereo yet and can cope with it not being compatible with records/tapes/CD's/mini discs then I can thoroughly recommend one of these, Sony DSX-A40UI

As they are MP3/iDevice only they are half the depth of a standard unit, prevents the need for a shoe horn to get it in.

Quite the list, one of my bonnet catches keeps getting stuck let me know how you get on with them
Also was having a look at new bonnet mesh myself, looks fiddly tho.. Mines like melted into the fibreglass on the inside? :/

yes the original mesh was bonded to the bonnet with fibreglass - and the new mesh will be too
