Looking to offer some support to the Reserve's powerplant.

Not seen those before. Effectively a cup/cylinder round the rubber engine mount to reduce distortion. Not sure what the effect would be for road use.

The same advert did however refer to the 52mm engine mounts as part FP292 which is worth noting, also not it lists it for Pinto as well as Capri (which is where ours originate). Especially at this price, only £8.95 each.
They also list the gearbox mount as part GBT9400, at £24.95.

I will be getting a set to fit with the new engine...when I finally get it built!

If it's not a rude question to ask a man of your age Mike, have your mounts sagged at all since you fitted the supports?

Ah ha, I should have known it. Stainless components are not normally magnetic, but they are to Mike! wink

How have they worked out in practice Mike? I did wonder if they might increase strain where the 'rubber' is bonded to the top end, but I have a high opinion of Burton Power stuff so it should have been well tested.

Plenty of other things are sagging at my age Paul but the cups seem to be doing their job on the engine mounts wink

Cheers Mike, my new alloy sump may not be as forgiving if it ends up resting on the ARB!!

Does anyone know if these rubber engine mounts have a single piece of threaded bar in the centre, or are there two separate pieces fitted (one on each side) ?

One each side, nothing but rubber between (that's why you need an engine earth strap) wink

Thanks Mike for the info. I have a plan to make some from polyurethane.

Just for info. - Is this the strap connected to the top of the gearbox ?

It can be connected to any part of the engine / bellhousing / gearbox and the chassis as long as it is of a decent size (needs to take starting current) and good clean connections at both ends

On mine (S1) there is one from the lower right front of the engine to the chassis and another from the left rear of the gearbox.
