OK Guys -here's one' to throw the spanner in the works' - having just read two pages of arguements re the back lights. What about the front end? Has anyone covered the front lights so they look like an E type or a Griffith??? If so has anyone got any pics of what an S looks like with a headlight conversion. Again if so, can any one tell me what prices it would cost? I await with interest.

Not that I know of but there is a trim for the front lights that emulates the Chimera look. Podie has a set that I'm buying off him but I'm not sure whether there are any more around.

Podie mate, over to you. Can you get any more sets of these?

I've not seen any more sets, but do still have the (unpainted) ones that you wanted.

Originally I was looking to have some perspex covers made to emulate the enclosed look of the Griff, but the guy who was initially going to do the work for me changed his mind and wasn't interested. Since then I've sold the S.

As they stand at the moment, they would replace the chrome surrounds on the headlights and replace them with (when painted) a small fairing similar to those found on the Chim.

Podie, we'll have to arrange meeting up soon.
Perhaps on the 13th at the meet?

I quite liked the idea of enclosed lights, but have never seen an example.

My wife is away to the states on sunday and I will just need to check on timings but all being well I may be able to get to the white hart for 11am.

I will probably be in the tin top though as the S is minus tax and MOT and still having the exhaust sorted.

Will I be welcome in my BMW, it is standard and completely unmodified

If I've got a spare passenger seat, you're welcome to jump in the Chim.

I'll mail you my mobile number.

Thanks Podie, I'll hang on to that if I may for the next meet and perhaps I can go with you then?

For this Sunday, it's a non-starter as my wife leaves for the airport at 10:30, of all the weekends it just had to coincide Damn & blast!

I'd best be there to wave her off

Well it was possible to get fairings for the MGB, which has very similar shaped headlamp cut-outs to the S - guess it would look a bit like that. Rich...

Guys - thanks for your comments, what I was really after is what Podie suggested, the 'perspex covers' over the lights, so there is a complete smooth finish, like the Griffith and E- type. Any more suggestions, keep'em coming!! Thanks

Perhaps you could look into getting some made up, I'm sure several people have been keen in the past. Must be a market for them?

Re: Getting them made up.
That's why I was just fishing for ideas here first, and whether anyone has any contacts. I was hoping there might be an example, before I made a decision to go ahead. Just hoping!!!

Marz,
Something i was just woundering about on a 3 hour drive home the other day. Was thinking of ways it could be made up and produced. I thought about constructing a "Pod" that slides over the complete front light and secures to the bonnet by screws and wing nuts on the flat surface that runs to the tip of the bonnet. Think because of vibrations youd need a very thin piece of foam along the outside base but you would have a problem with water build up?
Thoughts?

Out of interest, has anyone or does anyone know of anyone who has fitted an HID system in the S?

They're getting more affordable now too!

The items in the pics are the same as those sat in my garage… and that it what I was looking to have fitted with a perspex cover.

Kentish has first refusal on them, but if he doesn't want them I'll sell them to the first buyer… :-)
