For general road use...
1. Red Dot grooved vented disc's.
2. Mintex fast road pads.
3. Braided hoses.
Made a huge difference to my stopping ability...
Agree with Mintex, but can be a bit lifeless in fastroad compound until warmed up. I also found Pagid fastroad pads to be very good (not on the TVR though).
I'm not sure exactly which options are avalable for disks as I have not upgraded yet. My fading probelms should be reduced when I convert my spotlamps to brake cooling ducts.

I have EBC drilled/grooved discs and greenstuff pads and they are pretty sharp but do fade a little when braking rapidly from high speed. Generally pretty good IMHO.
I've just ordered EBC discs (GD086) for the front of my V8s (£101 BTW, don't tell me you lot can get them cheaper
) but Im wary of ordering Greenstuff pads, I've heard various reports of fading under moderate use (never mind hard use!). So Im considering Red Stuff. However on my S2 and most of my previous cars I used Mintex (M1144 I think) which I have to say where fantastic and never gave me any problems. So Im deciding between Mintex and Red Stuff at the moment.
Oh and I ordered Braided hoses too, Which turned out to be quite a bit more expensive than the V6 hoses (I think I paid £114).
Oh and as Podie says, High Temp brake fluid, any suggestions on Brake Fluid here ?
I'll let you know how I get on after I bed them in.

I melted a set of greenstuff pads on my golf some time ago (sticky mess), hence the move to Pagid. Never tried them on the TVR. I am not really too sure about Kevlar pads fullstop, but others sware by it.
I use DOT 5.1 and always look for the one with the longest shelf life left. The maker of the fluid probably doesn't effect performance much.

cheers chaps, I`ve used drilled and grooved discs with greenstuff pads on mx5 before, and was sure it improved stopping by 50%, so far on s2 have new Halfruads shoes on back, new greenstuff on front, and pumped 2lt of dot4 through to clear out old fluid, I know it could take a while to bed in but did 400 miles + last weekend and not impressed so far, old discs in very good nick, so I think I`ll take the plunge with ebc dimpled and grooved, qouted £109, so far.I really have to work them to stop, and when I drive my daily motor, alfa 156, I only breath on them and you stop on a sixpence!I know the alfa has abs, but given the performance of an s the brakes seem to be the weekest part of the package.

On my S2 the previous owner had put x-drilled and grooved disc, DOT5.1 and I put Mintex M1144 and on track days I did not get one bit of fade, I was well impressed with the brakes on the S2, and so were a couple of friends, one of whom used to race single seaters!
This is the main reason Im changing the V8s Discs, Pads, hoses and fluid as the brakes are FAR worse than the S2.
BTW Why DOT4 instead of DOT5.1 ?

DOT 5 and DOT 5.1 are completely different. DOT 5.1 is similar to DOT 4 but with a higher temperature rating, and is fine for normal road use. DOT 5 is completely different, not interchangeable with the other two and not recommended for road use.
Did you bed the GreenStuff pads in according to the instructions? Normal driving won't do the job.

The minimum wet boiling point that qualifies a fluid for DOT 4 status is 311 degrees Fahrenheit. DOT 5.1 has a wet boiling point of 365 degrees. Better yet, DOT 5.1 is half as viscous as DOT 4. This means a system filled with DOT 5.1 provides quicker lever response, better modulation and faster pad retraction When servicing, the lower viscosity facilitates bleeding and pad adjustment. DOT 5.1 also experiences less volume change as a result of temperature shift than DOT 4, allowing more consistent braking through a range of temperature.
Just as a guage to see how our brakes compare.
I can drive at 80 to the final marker approaching a roundabout and still bring the car to a halt on a dry road which I think is fine for me as I don't track the car but if I do this at several roundabouts I can get a bit of brake fade if the next roundabout is close to the first (the pads and fluid haven't cooled enough sometimes). Pedal travel is minimal until bite and a moderate to firm pressure is required at this speed for the required stopping distance.
In an emergency stop, the car can slow from 70 to low teens very rapidly and will throw you forward in your seat.
Is that genearally what everyone else experiences with the drilled/grooved discs and uprated pads?
IN comparison to our other cars, I would say that they are not as instant on the S as the BMW brakes but they are better than the Freelanders.

sent the wife round to threaten the dustman and now have the greenstuff instructions. "after fitting pads care must be taken when braking.avoid emergency braking for the first 200miles until new pads are fully bedded in."
I`ve done double that and I`m not a hard on the brakes driver, pretty boring really, but the pedal moves about 1" before brakes start to bite, and I really do have to push hard to pull the car up, I don`t drive so close to the vehicle in front as I do not have the confidence in the brakes to pull up sufficiently in an emergency situation.
Perhaps this could be due to a problem elsewhere, servo?
