Chaps,

wondering if anyone can help. I am going to Virginia Water on Sunday, and bringing a friend who loves the S2. Except this chap, James, is power crazed and wants a V8, as a V6 is not enough for him. He was originally after a Chimaera but reckons they are too common and, also, for a good one, too expensive; he would rather spend £9k and buy a good V8S - and lord knows there are a few about for sale at the moment!

So, anyone bringing a V8S on Sunday? And, even more importantly, any such V8S owners willing to give a quick ride in their machine to a total, dyed-in-the-wool petrolhead friend of mine, who is thinking of buying one?

James (and I) would really, really appreciate it!

Regards,

Harry.

We actually talked about this - that would be fine!

Come on - anyone? He's a nice guy, and won't throw up in your car no matter what insane manoeuvres you pull...

The cars in for service/mot/fettling as of this weekend so can't help I'm afraid, which will be a bonus for anyone selling, don't like to spoil peeps too much .
I would like to point out though that you state a good 'un for £9K, that may hold true for the odd car given a specific set of circumstances but I don't think it is the norm, particularly as summers coming .

Which is why he wants to buy now! Seems to be a good time to buy an S, and it isn't going to last!

Happy to take him out for a spin as long as he pays for the ticket to get back in. Might set false expectations though if he's looking for a *standard* V8S.

Don't know the area, is there anywhere nearby where it is safe to open it up?

....I might even come in the eurobox just for that spin in your non-standard V8S Peter .

Back peddling like mad, remember it hasn't been set up yet so you might prefer to wait until it's finished and going properly. But if you're there I'm more than happy to take you for a quick spin, if we can find somewhere safe.

Fantastic - thank you Peter. I don't think he's after a test pilot adrenaline rush; just a feel for the V8's performance and feel (although yours is admittedly somewhat quicker than standard...)

Hope to see you too! As to law, I left Freshfields about a year ago and went in-house with an insurance company, for their M&A arm. Less cash, but far more enjoyable (and sociable hours at last!).

Thats what my wife intends to do as like you say it seems to be more sociable hours at least, my wife is in Corporate Finance and the hours can be a bit much at times, as I am sure you know.

Hopefully see you Sunday.

Oh yes - I too am an ex corporate finance/FSA bod and the hours were terrible. Happy to chat to you about how little I regret moving from private practice, to help your wife make her decision!

I'm sure this information is available somewhere on PH, but I can't find it. Exactly where in Virginia Water is this gathering of TVR's? Does the venue have a postcode I can use with multimap? Is there a start & finish time?

Thanks.

It not only TVRs but there will eb a fair few there I would guess. Are you interested in buying an S ?

If so there will be quite a few of us there and you can have a look around the cars etc even go for a blast if you pay the drivers £4 re-entry fee?

See you there, mine is a red S with cream roll bar!

Mike,

Yes, purchasing a V8S is a possibility and looking at other peoples cars is a good way to learn what to expect. I'll look out for you if I go on Sunday - but I still don't know exactly where to head for and between what times. All directions gratefully received.....
