Blyton S club extravaganza 2016
Discussion
Looking to sort a 1/2 day S Club Blyton event in May - date tbc.
Similar set up to the 2014 day I organised. I'm working with the South Yorks RO to tag on to an event being set up but should be able to arrange an S Club session.
Participants will need to be paid up TVRCC members.
Please add your names to the provisional list:

.........does it involve the late night nature ramble as well again this year?
Probably not as I've moved house - it's about an hours drive to Blyton from here, however we can do the beer and curry element quite easily at a different establishment. Food is on a similar par but no 80's hairstyled waiting staff.
UPDATE:
SYTVRCC have BLYTON booked for Thu and Fri 12 & 13 May. It's proving popular so we might not get an S Club only session, but be interspersed through a single day.
So my thoughts are, let's go for the Friday (easier for me from a work perspective) and book morning or afternoon sessions (or both if you wish) to suit individuals (I'll be there all day but only one session on track).
Blyton Park, near Gainsborough ( http://www.blytonpark.co.uk/ ) is a short and twisty sprint track with safe run-off areas and full facilities, including helmet hire.
The cost will be £90.00 per half day session with just 5 cars on track at once so we don’t trip over one another!
You WILL need track day insurance, but as this event is backed by the TVRCC that may help you obtain it. Noise level is 95dB via a 10m drive-by test. (This has not been a problem in the past.)
The event will have safety and marshal staff, and an instructor who can sit in the car and criticise – I mean ‘advise’ – on your driving..
So anyone wanting to attend, please add your names to the list with preferred session(s) (eg, Thursday am / Thursday pm / Friday am / Friday pm)
1. Max Friday am or pm

First of all many thanks to those that are putting the effort in to organise an event like this. Please do not take this as negative or me trying to be difficult. Based on my experience last year I have some additional information that may help others on track day insurance, or at least give them time to sort something out so they do not get caught out in the way I did last year.I like most TVR owners have a policy that includes track day cover. Having been to the Asda On You Marks charity track passenger rides day held at Bruntingthorpe for 2 years with cover provided on request, I contacted Classic Lines again to get cover for the day as part of my policy. I was told that even though it was a TVR backed event, and they acknowledged it appeared on the TVR CC Calendar, this was not enough to qualify for the 'free' track day cover under the T&Cs of my policy. It would needed to have been an event sanctioned, organised and run by the TVR Car Club, for the exclusive use of TVR CC members only. The fact that a TVR CC region was organising the TVR CC involvement on the day was not enough. Alternatively the venue and/or event organisers could be a member of the Association of Track Day Organisers, with the event appearing on either the organisers website or with something in writing that the organisers were ATDO members. As the Asda charity track day was neither of these, they told me my 'included' cover was not valid and I could pay an additional premium of approximately £65 to get covered for the day.
I have to say Classic Lines were very helpful and did try as much as they could the get Equity to cover the day. I believe that TVR owners insured with Mannings were provided cover for the day, despite the fact that their T&Cs also stated the same conditions about ATDO or exclusive TVRCC.
In the end I decided that paying out £65 the week before the event on top of fuel, tyres, minor damage etc was just a bit too much to provide passenger rides for charity. My own fault for not checking sooner and giving myself time to sort something out that was a bit cheaper.
So, do not assume that your included track day cover will actually cover this event until you have it checked and get something in writing. If it is a genuine TVR CC event then you should be ok, but I do not recall seeing this on the TVR CC website. Perhaps the people that are organising this could talk to the TVR CC Office and see if it could be made an official event, if it is not already.

Having said that, it is individuals responsibility to ensure they have cover in place.

Hi Max
Sorry I will have to cancel, unfortunately I bought Shirl tickets to the Spanish F1 GP for Christmas which is on the same weekend, and damn it I have to go with her.
If for whatever reason Bernie changes the dates of the GP I will be there,
Andy

Just a note to update Max’s information here, noting that this event is listed in TVR CC listings for 2016.
Last year we had no problems with insurance, though some of us needed to show that either the Club were organising the event or that it was marshalled by track officials. This will be the case again this year although it will be the New Year before I have contracts in place and therefore the Club’s official blessing.
I may just have my S3c on the road by then, but if not I’ll be there in the Taimar again!
I hope you can join us.

Again, many thanks for getting this event organised, and for providing some feedback about insurance. Trying to get an event running and people to commit to it is usually a thankless task. I know how difficult it can be and you have my full support and praise for your efforts.
Are non S models allowed to attend - is there a different tread or list for those? I would be very interested in a track session in my Chimaera.

No problem with any TVR tracking. We already have a variety of different cars 'signed up' including some Chimaeras and in the past we ran mixed sessions. We can see how the sessions fill up next year and decide whether or not to run certain cars together. We are looking forward to a good turnout of Ss - only 5 of us in our region!

Hi Smokey Boyer - Tony is booking 2 days for any TVR, I'm just trying to piggy back an S session if possible to save me organising a duplicate event at adifferent time. Are non S models allowed to attend - is there a different tread or list for those? I would be very interested in a track session in my Chimaera.
I'm sure Tony will set up another thread for people to sign up to - the more the merrier.
If you've not driven Blyton, I can recommend it - great little track and our format really helps any novices yet allows the more experienced to have plenty of fun too.
Be good to see you there and hopefully your insurance company will be happy too as it's a TVRCC closed event.
Cheers,
Max
