Bonnet hinge mod- thoughts
Discussion
Hi Steve, I think that may put the new pivot too low? Maybe kind off invert yours so it comes off the top not the bottom?
A quick look at mine and the pivot is now approx 200mm forward of the existing chassis bracket and slightly higher than the top of that bracket.
As Mick says build in as much adjustment, in every plane, as you can.... up/down.... forward/backwards.... sideways

ETA ...........

Ok. Version 2 is a bit of 1/8" sheet steel bent to create an angle. It's approx 9" long with one side 3"in height, the horizontal approx 1 1/4 wide. This has two pieces of sheet welded to it to snug fit the existing chassis hinge mount when the angle is placed over it. Simpler and cheaper to make.
I might try this method...

I'd "rough it up" from just flat sheet first off, then when you're sure of hole positions (chances are you'll need to move them once or twice) set about making again with any excess metal removed and your various strengthening ribs/braces added where required.
Do they need the strip at the back "A" ? If the holes are positioned correctly strip "B" should stop the bracket tilting down

Philpott- you may be right, I fancied the two pieces to fit snugly over the chassis - with a view to them being able to stop rotation. My only other thought is that this puts the bracket further away from the bonnet webs, increasing leverage on the pivot? I like this design though. It's easier to make...I guess I could add a piece of box section to close the gap ? I recon I might still need to trim the bonnet though.
Did you see my attempt Steve? The only snag with this method is the difficult forward and back adjustment. If I did it again I'd possibly use a two way threaded stud (left hand and right hand threaded) connecting the bracket and the rose joint. I can't see a way of fitting the hinge pivot further forward without removing part of the under valance though..
