generally where should the needle be on the oil gauge mines about 25% most of the time. Is this normal?

About half way 50psi over 2500 revs seems about the norm, mine drops to 1/4 25psi on tickover when hot.

I should say there is a large variance when this subject comes up but I have quoted the average.

I also think that the 5/40 fully synthetic oil is not so viscous and lowers the pressure a bit, 15/50 IMHO would give slightly higher pressure.

If I were you I'd get the pressure checked on an external guage because the senders and guages are sometimes suspect.

They vary a lot as the guages are not very accurate.
Mine reads from around 30 (idling) up to around 73.
