Sorry another rear disc conversion question.
Discussion
I am at the moment trying to put together a rear disc conversion kit for my s3 , I have sourced pretty much all I need except I can't seem to be able to find a supplier of the brake caliper mount brackets.
I particularly like the look of the ones fitted to mike's (philpots) s.
Can anyone here help please, or does anyone know where I can lay my hands on some chimaera hub assemblies to save me the trouble !!!!
Cheers
Paul.

It's not Chimaera hub assemblies you need, just Sierra ones for cars with rear discs. Or these:

Plus the carriers etc. And the wheel bearings to suit the hubs. And the stub axles. And the driveshafts, is your stub axles are the 108mm type. And the diff, unless you want to make custom driveshafts (don't ask me how I know).

Hi chaps , thanks for the replies ,I was under the impression the old 4.0 chim solid disc hubs / bearing carriers are a straight fit to the s axle.
I was thinking of using the aftermarket brackets as it means I can use the fitted s hubs currently fitted .
I won't be going for massive discs , just the 260mm front upgrade and 253mm rear solid discs .
Thanks again guys and any other info gratefully received.

Do you mean the calliper carriers or the bearing carriers?
The stub axle is different between the disc and drum brakes. The disc compatible ones have a fully splined end. Drums have a half splined end.
The Racetech carriers are for 273mm discs.
The easiest method is to source some Capri Sport plates that bolt onto the drum brake version of the bearing carrier. So you take of the drum brakes. Fit the plate. Then mount the calliper. Just need to sort out the handbrake cable and the brake hose.
Here are their brackets for 253mm discs http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Capri-Escort-rear-axle-d...

That's the setup I've got, same as an early Chimaera on the rear. Only modification I had to do was to turn down the ABS ring from the stub axles, as they don't fit through the trailing arm. Everything else is a straight fit. Oh, and you need a different handbrake cable...obviously!I was thinking of using the aftermarket brackets as it means I can use the fitted s hubs currently fitted .

Once again thanks for the help here guys , I have just managed to get hold of some hub / bearing carriers from a Sierra 2.0 , I believe they should be a straight swap once I take of my drum back-plates and bearing carriers.
Hopefully some new bearings and a refurb and they should be ready to fit .
I already have a v8s handbrake cable.
Hopefully it should all come together..... Famous last words !

Just a quick update on this subject , I have now found some caliper mounting brackets from MK Sportscars , £30 for a pair , they are just what I'm after as they are the type which are open so no problem getting them over the hub.
They are for the Sierra solid 253 mm disc and caliper , I confirmed this over the phone with a very helpful chap.
No link just a very happy customer.
