What does it mean?

Both my front tyres seem to have excessive wear on the inside edge of the tyre.

I think (hope) it may be due to sagging springs? These look to be very old and possibly the originals. The shocks have been changed for spax.

Also whats the going rate for a set of springs and 4 bridgestone 15 inchers?

Does seem to suggest the front geometry is out, and excessive camber would be an obvious suspect. Sagging springs causing the front to drop would also wind on more camber so you might be on the right lines.

If you fit new dampers you need to ensure that the springs are the right diameter and length. You can't assume they will take the same springs as the old dampers. If you buy new springs you also need to ensure you get the correct rate (poundage). Springs start from about £15 a corner.

Loads of threads on springs and rates plus good variety of options from the various dealers. Re the camber - I was surprised how easy it was to adjust this - just the 2 bolts holding the top of the hub to the top wishbone - luckily mine had made marks in the paint so I could set them back correctly!
