I've just invested in a set of silicon water hoses and stainless water pipes from Tim at ACT and seem to be a steel pipe down on what I was expecting but before I contact Tim I thought I would ask here first.

The pipe I'm missing is a long thin pipe coming from the Heater matrix hose that runs underneath the off side of the engine towards the rad.

Looking at This post it looks like it might be part No 37 (ford part number 6154329).

Has anyone else bought the stainless pipes from ACT and did it include the missing pipe?
Would you expect this pipe to be included in a stainless steel kit? only I know it's not visible but the main reason for the replacement was to stop any rust particles clogging up the cooling system.
Also any advise on fitting the hoses and mods that are worth considering?

Thanks in advance Chris

I've just bought the hose kit from ACT and fitted.

I did look at the stainless hose pipes and it was pretty clear it was just the top one (with the otter switch port) and the one for the bottom hose.(the photo does show the two pipes only)

I didn't go ahead - gave the existing ones a spray over in matt black instead.

http://www.fordopedia.org/parts-catalog/24-29-v6/B... Hello Chris, if it`s No6 in this drawing, I wouldn`t expect that to be part of a set. Mine rotted out and ford had discontinued it. I did manage to get a second hand pipe, but others have used silicone and stainless and made their own.

That pipe isn't included in the radiator pipe kit from ACT. I would think a better route could found for the pipe using off thecshelf parts. Indeed, I may well do just that during my rebuilds!

As for fitting the silicone hoses. You will need to trim the pipes for them to fit right. You may find that a fair bit needs to be trimmed as it depends how well your car was thrown together in Blackpool. I had to trim a fair bit off but others have not so I put that down to TVRs tollerences. Measure four times then trim.

Made my replacement from 15mm copper tube and fittings with an olive soldered on each end to give the hoses something to hold onto.

Just out of interest does the set of silicone hoses include enough to go up behind the dash and onto the heater matrix?

Alternatively, you could try to salvage the pipe which is fitted to the engine, if it's not too bad.
I recently had new end pieces brazed on to the old pipe by a local plumber ! Here's a before/after picture.

I checked that. The rest was really very clean with no issues at all. Just the two ends were well gone, where the rubber hoses were attached.
