NEW TO TVR PARTS WANTED
Discussion
Hello to everybody,
I recently acquired a 1989 TVR 290 S2. which I had been watching rotting in a front garden for the past 5 years whilst I have been out walking the dog. Well its now thankfully mine and over the past two weeks I have taken the body off and started a full restoration. The front outriggers are shot completely along with many other parts of the connecting F frame. The replacement frame has been made for me by RT Racing and In April it will be shipped out to me in Spain where I live.
I have managed to buy some replacement parts but at the mo I am after a fuel filter and a set of plugs. I had read on a previous post that somebody had fitted a high pressure sports filter but has anybody got a part number? or where u get them from.
What and where is the best coy for s series parts? I have no problem buying from the UK and shipping out to in Spain.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

As for parts, there are a small number of TVR specific parts the rest are from Ford and a few VAG bits.
VAG bits?Apart from the manual window regulators from an Audi 80 Quattro? I can't think of anything else Stewart.
Oh, I was forgetting the in-line heater control valve that I believe may have come from early VW Golf or Polo.

Sounds like it will be a while before you need them! That engine was used in Capri's and Granada's, presumably sold all across Europe. Those parts should be easily available from any good car spares shop in Spain or some UK Motor Factors will deliver to mainland Europe?

Did Ford make many 2.9 Capris Mike? I think you mean Sierras & Granadas
Think the last "few" were 2.9's but yes, Sierra slipped my mind.... (it's been a hard day, you've no idea how tough it is having to drive a Supercharged Range Rover Sport for eight hours
) maybe even a Transit or two? there were certainly some early Transit Ambulances with the Essex V6.

Our route is Bilbao - Segovia - Trujillo - Granada - Lorca - Cuenca - Soria - San Sebastian - Santander
Radiator - quick search on here would reveal the Subaru Imprezza Turbo STi rad fits with a few tweaks to the cars mountings. Alloy replacement ones can be had for £150 off evilbay in the UK - not sure about Spain! - add a new fan and the conversion can be done for £200. A lot less than a recore and ample future supply.

Its a shame that your route is some distance from me I would have liked to have seen the cars.
Nice to see that I am not alone in Spain with an S2. Is the car on Spanish plates?
Mine is and I am having a few strange discussions with traffico and the ITV testing centre at the moment. The chassis number is nearly impossible to read and I am attempting to get it re engraved or re stamped to make the yearly inspection easy for them. Unfortunatly like all admin in Spain, nothing is easy!! but I will get it done one way or another, I will probably have to pay some kind of tax first!.

Hi TVREES,
Just had a look on E bay ref the Fuel filter you listed, however, when I checked the car compatibility on the sight it said it would not fit a 1989 290 s2. I take it that it does and that I should get used to forum sights knowing nothing about 290 S2!.
Hi, this is certainly the type fitted to mine. Here's a pic. On the previous post, I mentioned the sizes of the connecting banjo fittings.Just had a look on E bay ref the Fuel filter you listed, however, when I checked the car compatibility on the sight it said it would not fit a 1989 290 s2. Mk1 fan, what date are you in Lorca ? If you are staying at the castle, I may pop down in the S to see you, I'm only a half-hour away from there.

It might be the 10th or 11th. No dates in our info pack and it isn't too clear if we have a dedicated day at Guadix track or whether its a half day.

We are staying at the Parador de Lorca at the castle. You're welcome to join us. I can confirm the date when I meet the tour guide?
My name is Stewart.

Exactly! as suggested before you'll need to search for things like fuel filters, spark plugs, oil filters etc. under Sierra XR4i or Granada 2.9, mainstream cars that had the same engine (air filter is not the same).when I checked the car compatibility on the sight it said it would not fit a 1989 290 s2.
