Just took the wiper arms off my 'S' to rub down & respray, noticed the blades were 2 different sizes.. 16"1/2 inch & 17"1/2, is this the correct sizing?

Im only asking because im replacing them as there more than likely the original blades & squeeking like mad, I saw some listed for the S on evilbay or may have been racetech & they were 16" so a little confused hmmm

Thanks in advance
Steve

if you are happy with the swept area then stay with the sizes you have.

I changed mine to modern style arms (both 16") and seem ok

If they fit the screen then they're correct, overhanging or missing big areas they're wrong!

Mine are both 17" Aeroblades (found them on Ebay), think you'll find the near side always hangs off the screen a bit unless you go silly short smile

What's an inch between friends wink

perhaps I should have mentioned, my wiper arms are a bit "homemade" because the originals struggled to push the Aeroblades flat onto the screen.............. bit more info

If you want to fit good quality modern blades, try this mod.

my earoblades work fine - it's the wiper motor that doesn't - fast speed only (haven't looked int the problem yet)

Ah I haven't got the kit to modify the arms, may have to settle for the Bosch super plus blades instead

Halfrauds have the earoblades with the mounting to the standard hook arm

i did initially order the retro fit aeroblades but i didnt want to risk them not pressing down on the screen enough like mike mentioned earlier so ended up cancelling them rolleyes

No need to solder. Just crimp tightly. VW didn't solder them originally.

Ideally you want two pairs so you can use the shorter ones. Mine came with nearly new blades which was a bonus.

If the little nut covers are missing, you can find those on eBay as well.

Think I may have to 'attempt' this mod sooner rather than later, 1 of my one original wipers are knackered! The base has seized up

Just a heads up, nissan micra k11 93-97 model rear wiper arm is another option of wiper arm, it works on the drivers side without fouling bonnet, i tried one on the passenger side but it seems to be fouling even when straightened out abit..

does anyone have a spare LH side wiper arm i could try? TVR-Parts is only listing the RH one :/

cheers
Steve
