Hi all as part of my ongoing rear disc conversion saga , my new handbrake cable appears to be about 3ft too long , ( correct part from specialist ) ,
Does anyone have a v8s cable they can measure please so I can get back to the specialist seller ( very helpful by the way ) and he can check his stock to see if they have been made to the correct size / spec
Cheers / hopefully

Paul.

I've got a new unopened one that I sourced from the same people who supplied my previous one.

Only snag is that it'll be Sunday before I see it.

Hi there , if you could have a measure up when you get it I would be very grateful, also if someone has good v8s one off a working car I wouldn't mind knowing that measurement too .
Mine came from tvr-parts.com , this isn't a complaint against them , they have been very helpful , I'm just struggling to see how my new cable is over 3 feet longer than the original s3 drum cable removed.
I know there will be some variation between drum and disc set up but that's some hell of an adjustment!!!
Cheers
Paul.

Drum and disc cables are two different things but similar length.

Sounds like they have sent you a standard Sierra (or Granada) cable that hasn't been modified to TVR length?

Hi mike , you may be right about it being a sierra/granada cable although it was bought as a v8s handbrake cable and was in the correct bag from a tvr specialist , I measured the cable and it's approx 3.88m long end to end whilst the s3 cable I took off my car was 2.7m long , the dealer checked their stock and they are all 3.88m.
I'm a bit stumped until I can get a definitive length measurement.
Here's a picture showing the difference.

Not a gambling man but yes, I'd put a few quid on this wink

Who did you get it from? Shouldn't take a "rocket Scientist" to realise that is far too long for a dumpy little sports car!

This cable came from tvr-parts.com, like I said they have been very helpful so far but I must admit I'm thinking of sending this new one to speedy cables to get it cut down and new caliper pulls fitted.......but I need to find out an approximate length .........bloody car....even my triumphs seemed more repair \ refurb friendly than this tiv.
Oh well it would be boring if it was easy!!
Cheers

I think the Chim and Grief onwards used the standard sierra cable so might be a mislabelled item.

I'll dig my spare out on Sunday.

I'll happily measure, however, I bought one of the last two they had and I believe a fellow forum lurker bought the last one.

I think it was Racetech - too many TVR projects on the go ATM.

Racetech did indeed used to supply V8S handbrake cables, but I think they had a load made at great expense (I know, I've tried myself) and then had them all kicking around for years, so haven't bothered any more. Pretty sure I had one of the last ones when I converted to discs. They were proper ones, not just cut down and crimped together, which I didn't want.

The Griffith/Chimaera uses a standard Sierra disc cable, so sounds like it's been mixed up.

Hi chaps , yes I agree with you , it looks like a Sierra cable especially when looking at the link mike put up , same length etc .
Thanks for the help and if you don't mind measuring your cable up when you get a chance that would be great .
Regards
Paul.
