idea
Why throw away those old rusty bits. I just got these items cleaned and replated.

.

Amazingly, the cost for all of these together was much less than a pint of the local tipple ! drink

Can you spot which one is not off the "S" ?

Well, if it's "one", then is it the big one in the middle?

Presumably they were all in pretty good condition to start with - I imagine it would be pretty difficult to unrust them or repair damaged heads and worn threads and so on.

Don't recognise the big bit in the middle or the big washer things with a thread in the middle, other than than that I'd replace with stainless wink

I know, no stainless on suspension or other critical bolts.............

All were originals from my 1989 car. They were rusty, but threads, etc. were good. I carefully dismantled them after applying loads of WD40 smile
The rust was sand blasted off before re-plating.

Yes, the big bit in the middle is from the Scorpio, but it may be useful for the "S" cooling system, to possibly fit a drain valve or something.

The big washer things are the old plates from the engine mounts - I'm going to make some new polyurethane mounts using these old plates.
Watch this space ......

The rest are suspension bolts - the imperial sizes are almost impossible to get over here.

Looking good. Is there a chromate conversion on those or is it straight up Zinc?

Who did it, or did you do it yourself?

The coating is plain Zinc. I had them done locally, but I'm not located in the UK.

Those PU engine mounts are built differently to the rubber ones. They don't have the plates.

With the ones shown on eBay, I think that the steel the plates have been moved more to the centre and are now encased in PU, so you can't see them anymore. I could also try to incorporate this in my version, I'll see how it goes.
