Time will tell if it stands up to the heat around the exhaust ports.

They claim up to 250C. I think engine block paint is usually claimed good for 300C - 350C so it might be a bit marginal, but it's not as if you have turbos and glowing exhaust ports and so on - is it?

I may be teaching granny to suck eggs here, but I recall doing research on high temp paints (admittedly for manifold painting), and they often failed as they require very good cleaning a preparation to stand any chance of working...

...i don't do cleaning, so decided to start saving for a st st manifold.. wink

Spoke with someone who has used the red, said it discoloured a bit immediately by the exhaust ports but hasn't burnt away.

i think you're right, the VHT paint for manifolds will last just minutes unless applied to clean, as in sandblasted, metal. Wire brushing is not sufficient.

I find oil residue the main problem.... Pre paint prep fluid is essential, a brush always better than canosol-
