Hi all... With the snow still on the ground, my S2 beckons for attention....

Can somebody please suggest once and for all, what uprated disks I can install on the standard calipers ? Reading through various websites, produces results from Ford Granada to Escort RS turbo grooved disks ! Please somebody clarify the situation before I end up in a roundabout with the standard setup !

In order to get the wheels off I have to remove the locking nuts which in there total dumbness, my local garage have lost the shaped key ! They are Atstrel make (not standard I think). How can I remove them ??

Cheers !

The reason you are not getting a consistent picture from your search results is because there is more than one solution. The easiest to do is a direct swap to Sierra XR4i 260mm discs and matching calipers. (The std V6 S series discs are 240mm) However, these cars are old and few remaining nowadays.

You can use the 260mm discs with adapter brackets on your original calipers. You can also probably find larger calipers from a Granada/Scorpio to match the 260mm discs or from a late model ABS equipped Sierra. The Granada dicss are not suitable because they have a 5 stud wheel fitting. I think the Escort Turbo discs may be the same as the XR4i ones. Be aware that there are some variations on the Ford 260mm dicss with slightly differing offsets.

If you're interested, next week sometime I can dig out the Lockheed Delphi part number for the XR4i discs.

Cheers, JW

These are the discs i bought and fitted to my V8s

EBC Grooved and Dimpled, no messing around just remove your caliper, pull off old disc, put on new disc, re-bolt caliper and Bob's your Fathers Brother.

I put Mintex 1144 pads on at the same time, But I've still to put the braided hoses on as I needed a single piece front set.
