Where is the speedo cable on the gear box and how does it go in/come out. I've had some intermittent readings and just want to trace it to make sure it's not damaged, but can't find it.

Cheers

electronic speedo, so there isn't a traditional speedo cable.

I can't remember where the sensor is (I'm at work) but if you look up, it'll be on the side of the gear box (I think it's actually on the tapered rear extension to the box) and looks like a small throttle pot with 2 or 3 electical wires coming off - it's held in with a 10mm bolt IIRC.

just another thought - be careful when you take it off - there's a small gear that *can* come off the end sometimes, and if it falls down inside the gearbox... well you don't want that to happen ok?

Does the exhaust have to come off?

wouldn't have thought so - depends on the make of exhaust i suppose.

I suspect it will be quite a tight fit between the box and the chassis though - I've never changed the one on the S - the one I took off was on a Granada and there was acres of room!
