Looks like it'll be a lot cheaper now....

... to drive a V8S like a nutter. I've just bought GT4 and it'll be utter hell until I can afford or win one - then select a nice dark green.
I see Mr Sheen has his name in the credits.
I wish to thank him for going to the trouble of helping the developers to get the car in the game.
It's unfortunate that the Vixen mentioned in the Sprint article didn't make the cut. Would have shown peeps around the world that TVR has a longer history than they might have guessed.

The sound of the V8S ABSOLUTELY SUCKS! And the T350C laughable. It's just a generic sound that makes a mockery of the lengths they went to to record your engine. You should be apoplectic with rage. It sounds like an old sewing machine working at high speed on a very slightly unstable desk.
I feel very sorry for the Japanese if that's what their V8 engines sound like.
Every developer makes the mistake of pushing quantity instead of quality. Why do they think they can get away with 20 different sounds for 700 cars? After you've got over the short 'wow factor' of the graphics and car models and you're playing the game properly, the one thing you want is the right engine noise as everything else will be a blur. I don't consider lining up with 5 other almost identically-sounding cars to be a good experience. Half the time, you wonder whether the sound you're hearing is you or the one in front.
And why do we need these dozens of stupid microcars that no-one would want to race for more than 5 minutes?
Utterly, utterly shite.
The sound of the Zonda in particular is hysterically funny or deeply depressing depending on your mood. IIRC, it was one of the good ones in GT3.
I feel like I've wasted £30 because I don't see myself playing with it much longer. There's no anticipation of driving the V8 or even any of the other cars, as they all sound so similar and so false.
It's like going back to the early-90s racing games. No progress whatsoever.

You can also go into the Professional races, Clubman Cup I think, and you'll probably race against a V8S at some point.
Using the replay after the race confirms quite how bad the sound is.
I had to bring my Tiv to work this morning to take away the memory from last night's game session!
It's supposed to sound like this - www.british-motorsport.co.uk/tvr/accelerate.wmv - not like a huge metallic fly caught in a large vibrating barrel.

Does anyone know if it available in GT mode?
I found this site listing all the cars in the Japan version:
www.gtplanet.net/gt4/car_list/get_cars.php
It lists the T350C and V8S as 7.4 and 2 million credits respectively. In the UK version, the T350 is, what, about 70k credits so I guess at some point you'll be able to buy the V8S for around 20k in the early 90's used cars, or get it for winning a race.

i'll buy it off you for a fiver
I might see if I can take it back to Woolworths. There must be legislation about fitness for purpose. That sound and many others are not fit for the purpose of attending aurally to great cars, TVR or otherwise. I'm embarrassed for Polyphony.
