I am trying to swap my drums for chim / grif disks on the back of my S3.

I have acquired a set of disks, calipers, bearing carriers and drive flange from (i think) a Griffith, unfortunately they don't fit. The bearing carrier spigot is bigger than the hole in the trailing arm, and the splines in the new drive flange are longer than the old one and will not fit on the old drive shaft.

Can anyone advise which ford bearing carriers and drive flange is needed.

My S3 Bearing Carrier its with drive flange inserted.

Griff Bearing carrier its with drive flange inserted. As you can see they are quite different.

Any help much appreciated

You need one from a Sierra or Granada that had rear discs - like a Ghia 4x4.

.......... that's why I left the bearing carrier alone and made a pair of bracketswink

Scroll down this thread a bit and there's a post by me that mentions Cosworth bits and a very knowledgeable guy called Hansdaal who puts conversion kits together.

Hallo Andy,

You need 100 mm driveflanges from a Ford Scorpio/ Granada with the bearing carrier.
There are 2 types used on TVR's one for vented ( 273 x 20 mm discs ) and one for NON Vented discs.( 253 x 10 mm disc|)
I might have a set spare for non vented.
If you need some more info or pics drop me a line.

My V8S had the 250mm non-vented rear brakes. They were fine from the overheating point of view, but the brake balance with the original 240mm floating calipers up front was pretty appalling. I don't think mine was unusual in that - other standard V8S that I've driven have all been the same. Just be aware that if you fit these it would really pay you to sort out the brake balance. In case you're interested, a cheap and cheerful 'big brake' front upgrade using spacers to move the original calipers out to take a 285mm disc gave a very useful increase in brake cooling at the front and also sorted out the brake balance - leaving a very slight bias to the front, which is just what you want.

Isn't the balance/bias valve meant to sort that out?

The bias valve tapers off the rear line pressure to compensate for weight transfer as braking increases, but it doesn't address the static brake balance.
