Owning a red S2 myself I may be able to assist in this matter:
Maybe there are more red S's in the classified adverts because people get hacked off with T cutting the bonnet when it goes pink from the engine heat / sunlight / natural paint pigments / global warming / dodgy paint job etc etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well mine does, but I wouldn't want to get rid! I quite like the S in red................

I always wanted a red TVR with a cream leather interior, so as soon as I saw mine I had to buy it! It was the first one I looked at which in retrospect was a bit daft.
Red = Danger = Get out the way mate!!
Oh.... one other thing... didn't red S's win most of the classes at last years S club heaven?
I rest my case.

Ha! That's EXACTLY what I did - and seven miles later it died in a cloud of smoke. Still, looks lovely though.

Yeah, I was very lucky, I inspected mine in the dark, didn't drive it but was driven in it... broke all the rules in the book.... only had the usual S owners problems... thankfully.
T Cutt never been near my bonnet.... keep it nice and shiny with lots off wax (not polish). Helps maintain richness of colour.
Having owned a few red cars over the years the fading to pink is probably down down to a cheap respray.... you will see it a totally different colour under street lamps if you look.
