charging problems help needed S2

hi i have dusted of my s2 for the summer but i have problems with charging system i have no battery light / oil light and volt meter works ok but car is not charging have tried fanbelt and two alternators used one and new one still no joy i have checked fuses and still no where

can anyone help????????????????????????????/

Andy,

I am really crap with car electrics and most likley wrong, but these cars do not start charging untill you reach 2,000rpm after start up. Last winter I tried to keep the car up and running by reguarly starting the car. The problem was I never revved it, I just let it warm up and so the battery went flat after 5 or 6 starts.

As I said I am most likley wrong but might be worth considering.

Andy,

You note that the voltmeter works. Is it showing ovr 13 volts.

If so, then the problem may be the battery not holding a charge.

If the meter is readin less than 12 volts, have you checked the connectors at the back of the alternator as these may be corroded.

mine did that..... new battery cured it
