Bag of 7 for a Pound, I couldn't resist smile

Some are "Tyco" and others genuine Ford, pin layout is normal (think some special relays have a terminal turned so they can't be mixed up)

30 and 87 switched (normally open)
85 and 86 operating coil

But the schematic shows another little "box" across the coil, any ideas? Diode to prevent back EMF although from my very limited electronics knowledge that is not the symbol for a diode ... scratchchin

Just about visible in this photo...............

That's the symbol for a resistor. Limits the peak voltage across the coil.

Its a resistor. Serves the same purpose as the back emf diode, just shunts any high voltage spike.

Thanks, so they're fine for "general use" ?

Got curious so opened one up, doesn't show in photo but I can see a tiny thing (guess that's the resistor) inside, under the coil smile
