Alternator belt
Discussion
Hi all, my Alternator belt is looking a bit worn (probably worn out from rubbing on a coolant hose!) just wondering if its a normal ford belt that i can aquire from a ford dealer. Has anyone got a part number or shall i just quote that the engine is from a J-reg 2.9 v6 granada. (my cars a J-reg S3C). Also im going to replace all my standard coolant hoses for silicon ones. Ive seen Peninsula tvr do a set for about £135 any had a go at these? Do they fit perfect?
Thanks folks

Have a look at the hose 'threads' using the search facility. Got full set for my S3 from ACT for £200 inc VAT and inc clips. Wouldn't bother with clips again though - bit flimsy compared to others I've used in past. Took a bit of guessing which hose went where as some are not exactly same as old ones. ACT kit also includes hoses to replace breather pipes. They all fitted on fine diameter wise but a couple needed minor trimming in length to tidy up (especially heater hose).
Hope that helps!

Try here:
www.parkersteve.dsl.pipex.com/sparts.asp, its very good for sourcing this sort of thing at non TVR prices!
I replaced the belt on mine last year and just quoted the reference numbers to a motor factor i.e:
Auto Delta DB1200BC or Quinton Hazell QBB 1200 and they went and got one off the shelf. I don't know what its off however.
If the fan belt has been rubbing on the coolant hoses then check them and make sure they are not damaged like mine!!! (see my posting earlier today)

Don't use a 2.9 Granada belt!
The S has the alternator in a different place (much higher) and no powers steering / air con. The Granada has two belts - one that drives the water pump and power steering, and a separate wee one for the alternator. Neither of those belts are the right size AFAIK.
