Is a Wellesbourne breakfast a good start to the S-Tour?

I will be travelling to Penrith on the Friday in convoy with Niiige. We could possibly meet up for a Wellesbourne breakfast, or you could stop at my humble abode for a cup of tea, some sustenance and a restroom break if timing does not allow for a full heart attack on a plate. Niiige is on holiday so I do not know if he has access to the inter web at the moment.
Cheers

For me it would mean driving for over 2 hours in completely the opposite direction tae Bonnie Scotland, so I'm thinking that the Oilcan Cafe at Hepworth, nr Holmfirth, would be the best place for my big plate of cholesterol
prior to travelling up to "Calais".
Anybody else from further north than Redditch fancy joining me?
I can 'heartily'
recommend the "Mechanic's Breakfast" ( with extra grease ).
It's a great venue in itself, very interesting and well worth a visit.
It also offers a much better scenic choice of route than just plodding up the M6.

An excellent choice of venue Glen, the Oilcan is a great place. Perhaps the Wellesbourne contingent can have our lunch stop there

although if Wellesbourne's reputation is as good as I am led to believe, we may not need to eat for a couple of days.

I'm sure we could be tempted with the oil can cafe - these southerners have no sympathy for us northern folk by picking venues in the Midlands!!

Well it takes about 2 hours from Kent around the M25; it's a weekday so I will be allowing about 3 hours knowing there is a Vulcan bomber at Wellesbourne I can go and pay homage to.
Paul, I think you may be disappointed if you plan to view XM655 as I believe it is tucked away in its' hangar on the other side of the airfield during the week. The volunteers can only operate on weekends unless a special visit is previously arranged with them. . They are open for viewing on Saturdays from 10 til 4:

If you click on the link you can do a virtual tour.

I think the Wellesbourne Wartime Museum adjacent to the Touchdown Cafe is also only open at weekends. It is worth a visit, if only to marvel at the papier mâché head of our own Phillpot who some say bears a striking resemblance to Glenn Miller

You definitely won't be disappointed with the breakfast!

I think it's well worth the 2.25 hour drive from oop norf.
Except when my ultimate destination is Scotland, home of the deep fried haggis and Mars bars in batter and other gourmet delights.

Perhaps it does Mike.
Maybe I'm thinking of the Doncaster / Robin Hood Vulcan?
I did say "I believe"...
Perhaps it was wishful thinking on my part, hoping XM655 was somewhere warm and snug and dry.
Hi Glen, You may be thinking of XH558 which sadly now also looks destined to spend time outside at RHA due to management shenanigans.

Thanks for the link Glen. I love a V-Bomber.
