It's either a rowlock for a Wedge on water
Or a machine gun rest swivel bracket .

What do I win, Tim? smile

A more sophisticated version of the bit of metal I use to jam the clutch release out while I change or adjust the clutch slave? (We had to bodge one to fit Willie Weir's clutch adjuster at Barn Farm)

Looks like it's designed to support something round, about the right size for a wishbone tube, but I can't think of any need to support that. Something to do with a drive shaft, maybe? Can't recall ever wishing a that-shaped bit of metal while working on the tiv - I'm intrigued to find out what it's for.

Is it a piece of ground support equipment used when servicing the Pinky Ponk?

Please Tim,
Don't keep us all in suspenders! wink

That looks quite small, M8 bolt? Which would make the blue U shaped bit (plastic lined to prevent damage?) only about 15mm?

Intrigued scratchchin thought I'd had most bits off and on my S at least once and somehow managed without it wink

Well the replies to date did make me laugh, but no one (not even Glen's Pinky Ponk !) is close .... yet !

A clue : it's not permanently fitted to the car. It's glovebox item, which could come in useful at a stretch. whistle

This was a quick fix, I was bored and fancied making something semi-useful. Phillpot, I think you have already a perfectly engineered mod permanently fixed to your car.

Dont tell me Rees uses overtight kid gloves when driving?
Bloody complicated way of keeping the glove box open if you hold the sat nav in there?.
Its to keep her phone clamped in the central console so she cant use it when driving?
Its a 'management aid', to keep your hands with something to do if she is wearing a short skirt? (You must be able to think of a better one on that theme Glen?)
It keeps the window winder at exactly the height and angle that gives you feng shui when driving, an angle you need to change if the moons are not aligned?

Nope Richard.
I don't wear short skirts very often. nono

Perhaps it's a helmet rim holder? ( Is that the sort of innuendo-laden thing you were thinking of? wink )

Is it an anti-roll bar compressor?

And the winner is ........................ phillpot !

It's a small tool to wedge between the alternator and its fixing bolts, to tension the fan belt.

Alternatively, I could have used a piece of wood, but where's the fun in that. rolleyes
