No such thing as a stupid question,

Has been looked at a few times, with people looking at manufacturing at low cost all over the place. Problem always seems to be that there just isn't enough volume of sales which will cover the tooling cost.

here's the most recent thread, but I don't think it led anywhere in the end?

I was thinking of trying one of these, worth the cost just to see if it will fit

Doesn't the petrol fall out when you open the cap?

Have you seen the thread about getting them re-plated?

About £100 from memory, I suspect cost to re-manufacture in very small volume will be considerably more?

Yeah I believe because if the original materials used a rechrome doesn't last, I think if I could get 100 owners interested it could be done !!

Had mine re plated last year. Lasting well, I guess it depends where you have it done ....

How easy or tricky is it to remove the cap? There are some visible big Philips screws on mine - if you undo those, does everything else stay in place, or does the filler pipe drop away into the darkness ... ?

Dont forget that if someone finds a viable way to get caps made then the Scimitar and Middlebridge guys are interested in joining with us to increase the numbers. A key member of the Scimitar club has also had a cap rechromed, too early to say if it is successful.
