Hi,

I have a 1990 S2, and would like to know:

1. What is the size and make of the fan belt, and where best to get one?

2. Is there a recommended product to waterproof the fabric on the Targa panels and hood?

3. Has anyone used Rainex plastic on the rear window?

I have approx 10000 other questions, but these will do for now! !!

Cheers!

Fan belt:
I wouldn't take as gospel what the factory part was. If you're not driving the car, then take the old one off and take it to your local motorfactors who can measure it and supply a matching replacement. My local place had Gates items in stock!

I would test any plastic cleaner in a small area first just in case you have a 'strange' plastic window. Can't see why Rainex plastic wouldn't be suitable as it is a decent Brand.

There are various home brews for waterproofing. One such contained within the Steve Heath Bible. Renovo however, are a decent brand. They also do a plastic cleaner.

looks like your questions have been answered, next wink

Renovo appears to be the popular choice for hood care, crops up all the time on these TVR forums. I've used their polish to remove marks left by the stays. Works well and smells nice!

Fan belts, Gates are a well respected brand, or Meyle or Pix or .......

There's a lot of useful info in the Alternative Parts List in the useful links section.
I recently fitted a Gates 6478MC 13mm wide belt with no problems and not the 10mm wide as shown above. There was a post on this a few months ago, where a knowledgeable S-er recommended that the wider belts sit better in the pulley grooves.

Be careful not to splash the coloured Renovo, particularly on the plastic window. If it dries, it's a bu()£& to get off
