Can anyone help?
Discussion
Hi there,
I recently saved a TVR S Series from the crap man, but when I approached the DVLA about claiming the V5 they informed me that the car had been listed as written off. Now, the car has been in a crash with front end damage to the bonnet and some damage to the chassis which can be rectified and which I am prepared to do, but before I dive in head first to the DVLA I just wanted to know if anyone can give me any pointers on how to approach them on this?

did they tell you what category of 'written off' it is? as this may make a difference
the categories have recently changed.
Category Repairing the vehicle Using the vehicle
A Can’t be repaired Entire vehicle has to be crushed
B Can’t be repaired Body shell has to be crushed, but you can salvage other parts from it
C Can be repaired, but it would cost more than the vehicle’s worth You can use the vehicle again if it’s repaired to a roadworthy condition
D Can be repaired and would cost less than the vehicle’s worth, but other costs (such as transporting your vehicle) take it over the vehicle’s value You can use the vehicle again if it’s repaired to a roadworthy condition
N Can be repaired following non-structural damage You can use the vehicle again if it’s repaired to a roadworthy condition
S Can be repaired following structural damage You can use the vehicle again if it’s repaired to a roadworthy condition
I purchased a C a few years ago and repaired it. They cost repairs at main dealer / commercial rates so fibre glass is time consuming and therefore expensive.
