New Manifolds?
Discussion
It is looking like I may soon have to replace the manifolds on my V8S
as they are a bit worse for wear?
I was thinking of getting some nice shiny new stainless steel ones with the reworked 'Y' piece
I assume that the stainless ones are better than the cheaper mild steel alternatives as they will not rust??
Anybody recently purchased a set of stainless steel manifolds and 'Y' piece?

Wait for Pies or HarryW to post, they should be able to offer some advice / direction.

I would recommend you speak to Tim Lamont at ACT re prices. I have slightly smaller bore primaries on my manifolds/headers to suit the tune of the engine, but standard is fine. The improved Y piece is something I like to think makes a difference to all V8S's Pies & Mr Smith now run them and they have very healthy outputs plus an improved exhaust note IMHO
. Mine were pre-production mild steel ones, I couldn't justify them in SS at eh time as if it didn't work they would have been scrap
. If I had to start again knowing some mug had helped develope them I would get them in stainless myself though

And do you reckon they'd work on a standard car?
Not sure if you means pies 'standard' car
or the bad english in my original post
. Where it could be construed that the smaller primaries mentioned are OK to use, whereas I meant to say the standard sized primary manifolds are fine.............if you follow me

My S already has the ACT sports exhaust fitted by the previous owner, so I was thinking the ACT Manifolds and 'Y' Piece
were probably the way to go!
Harry - excuse my ignorance, but what are 'smaller bore primaries'??
So what can I expect once fitted
.....increased BHP? Louder exhaust note? Nice shiny bits under the bonnet....mmmm?

Primaries are the pipes from the cylinder head i.e. the primary or first exhaust pipe. By co-incidence the Y piece blends the secondaries into..........the exhaust
. You will mainly gain shiny bits under the bonnet
. You may gain some power with the Y piece but you will have certainly enabled more power IMHO to be unleashed should you get the ECU re-chipped in the future with the improved Y piece fitted. Harry

I´ve purchased the new act manifolds with two single cat´s. Had some problems fitting it yesterday - The connection to the last exhaust piece is to big and has the wrong position. I try to solve the problem and let you know.
GreenV8S: Tim told me that you had ordered the manifolds either - Did you have the same problems?
