S 2 buying

Friend of mine is considering buying an S2 but it’s supposedly first registered in 1990, does anyone know any history for this car please

My car, a very early S3 was registered in August 1990, original factory order which I have was for an S2 but got changed, they must have run out and started S3's by the time "my" order got to the top of the pile!

‘Supposedly’ because I’d have thought the S2 production would have ceased by 1990, unless the car was built earlier and took a while to sell perhaps. Evidently he was told it could be a 1986 model. Just trying to clarify some history for him as it’s his first TVR.

Know nothing of the car, but this was from July this year:


2.9 engine, shiny bits on the bumper and electric windows (if fitted) would suggest S2.

Mine's an S2 registered 1/1/90 so obviously manufactured before then.

My S2 was 16-1-1990

S2 May 1990. Mine appears to have some S3 chassis modifications eg body mounting bolt areas near the gear lever but no matching points in body shell. Also according to Adrian Venn when he repaired them a few years ago my trailing arms are midway S2/S3.

That car is a 1990, I had it from new all those years ago. Supplied by Kerridges, Needham Market. I sold it a few years later. It must have changed hands a few times recently and was montioned here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
