Differential mounting brackets...

I have a clunking sound emanating from underneath and behind my seat...the nice man at www.horizonmotorsport.co.uk says it's my rubber mounting bushes in the diff mounting bracket...
The bible does not give much info on replacing them other than a couple of body off photos of the offending items. The smile seemed to dissappear from the nice mans face when I hinted that he might get the job...has anybody ever tackled this particular bit of maintenance...?
On the face of it, it looks to be a right twit(a after w) of a job...Paul.

are we talking about the rubber ones that go through a plate with a single bolt,if so not to bad to do

To replace rear dif mounting on a s1 you will need,
long thin fingers,loads of loose change for the swearbox,17mm socket with either a hexagon end or serated finish,9" mole grips with curved jaw.
There is just enough room to get the socket on the bolts that fit into the rear of the dif then grip the socket with the mole grips to loosen the bolts.if you have thin fingers you can just unscrew the bolts your finger tips.The two bolts that fit the mounting to the chassis are easy to undo the dif will drop slightly on its mountings allowing you to remove the old mounting.
Refiting the new mounting is the reverse process but getting the bolts to start is a bit of a pig as you cannot see a thing and you are using your finger tips to feel for everything.It took me about 3 hours to change the mounting and about £20 in the swear box.
The mounting is a standard ford sierra part.

was an easy job with the body off
i think the part is actuall a gearbox mount ,i do have the part number at home if you need it ,this was on an S3 though

Part No. would be a help - I to seem to be suffering from 'manky mount' syndrome...

Thanks for the picture...I can now see the rear mount clearly... looks like I've got some grovelling and swearing underneath to do. The clearance between the mount and the fuel tank doesn't look much....hmm... anyways the knocking is starting to pee me off so it's gotta' be done..would appreciate the part nos. for the rear mount and the top mounts if you have them...cheers Paul.
