Roof coming away from body
Discussion
New roof has been put on the TVR last year and all is well except that it is peeling away from the body just behind the driver's door. Obviously it has been attached using some sort of glue/resin and over time it has worked loose. Is this common and, if so, what is the best fix? Cheers guys and here's wishing for good weather!
Hi
The hood shouldn't be glued direct to the bodywork behind the door.
When the hood folds back it needs to be released from the bodywork by hinge point to allow it to fold down properly.
There should be a piece of Velcro attached to the body. It runs for about 6 inches up to the point where the rear hoop, that holds the rear of the hood on, starts. If you don't release the hood from the Velcro before folding it down it will tend to pull the Velcro off the body but it can be re-glued.
This is guide I wrote when I replaced my hood which has some pictures of the velcro fastening on mine.
